SUMMARY:Members-Only Day: Nazis Next Door Special Exhibition
DESCRIPTION:Join us for Members Only Day! \nAn original exhibition created by the St. Louis Kaplan Feldman Holocaust Museum\, Nazis Next Door: St. Louis Faces Nazism in the 1930s explores the ways in which Missourians\, particularly St. Louisans\, made the choice to support or resist Nazi ideas of extremism and antisemitism right here at home. Through local narratives\, historical records\, and personal stories\, many of which come directly from the Museum’s own Archives and Collections\, this exhibition will challenge perceptions of our city’s history. What did St. Louisans know about Nazism and Antisemitism? How were they getting that information? And what did they choose to do with it? Looking forward\, what responsibility do we have in the face of rising antisemitism and extremism? \nThis exhibition is located in the Karpati Gallery. The Karpati Gallery\, named in memory of József and Peter Karpati\, is located on the Museum’s lower level and features a rotating selection of special exhibitions on history\, culture\, and art.

SUMMARY:Public Program: Pink Triangle Legacies\, Holocaust History and the Fight for LGBTQ+ Rights
DESCRIPTION:Join the Museum for this presentation of the dynamic and inspiring history of the LGBTQ+ community’s original pride symbol by tracing the transformation of the pink triangle from a Nazi concentration camp badge into a widespread emblem of queer liberation\, community\, and pride. Drawing from unexplored archival sources and original interviews\, historian Dr. Jake Desai-Newsome showcases the voices of LGBTQ+ Holocaust victims and a rich tapestry of queer lives who found meaning in the pink triangle in a post-Holocaust world. \nThe presentation is followed by a thoughtful dialogue with the Museum’s past Director of Education and Curation\, Dan Reich\, and a book signing.
