As many of you may have heard, multiple cars were set on fire in a Clayton neighborhood early this morning in what is now being investigated as a hate crime. Antisemitic graffiti was found in the nearby roadway. To our Museum community – we hear your fears, and we share your anger and grief after this incident. We are especially grateful for the tireless work of our community security team and the law enforcement agencies that protect our community each and every day. This moment is a painful reminder of why we must stand together.

The Museum is not separate from our community – we are part of it. We are part of your Jewish community. We are part of the St. Louis community. We are part of a community of Holocaust museums tasked with educating and empowering everyone who engages with us.

We mourn with you, we speak out with you, and we will continue to educate and act alongside you to confront antisemitism and all forms of hate. Together, we carry forward the lessons of history with resolve and unity. The Museum is proud to stand with our community partners in issuing the joint statement below.
