Life After Hate: Confronting Extremism with Sammy Rangel

Join the Museum for the final program of the special exhibition, Nazis Next Door featuring Sammy Rangel.
After a childhood marked by abuse and years of violence and incarceration, Sammy Rangel dedicated his life to helping others leave hate and extremism behind. In 2010, he co-founded Life After Hate, an organization that helps people disengage from extremist ideologies and heal from the trauma that often accompanies them. “What I know today, is no one is broken beyond repair,” he says.
Drawing from his own experiences and work in restorative justice, Sammy will share his personal story, explore why people become involved in extremist movements, and discuss how individuals and communities can help break the cycle of radicalization and hate.
A book signing of Sammy’s memoir Fourbears: Myths of Forgiveness will take place after the program, with books available for purchase.
