She was born on January 21, 1928 in Dresden, Germany to Albine and Charlotte Walther. She grew up in Dresden helping her mother raise her younger sister and brother while her father was on the Russian Front during World War II. Just 24 hours prior to the Russian’s occupation of Dresden, she, her mother and siblings fled on the last train out to Kulmbach, Bavaria, West Germany, where her father’s side of the family lived. She arrived in the United States in 1955. She passed away on January 2, 2018.
