Dr. Gershon Spector, the son of Paul and Nechama Spector, was born in Rovno, Poland in September 1937. He went to grade school in the Soviet Union and completed his high school, college and medical school after the war. He lived in hiding in Rovno from 1939-41 and was in hiding with the Partisans during part of 1941. He escaped into central Russia in 1942, where he remained until the war ended and went from there back to Poland. He lived in Neu Frieman displaced persons camp (near Munich) from 1945-49.
Four immediate family members and over 20 extended family members survived. Over 35 immediate family members were killed.
