Discover the importance of becoming an active ally and ways to stand up and speak out against injustice at the Holocaust Museum’s Impact Lab. Through the lens of the Holocaust, this conversation-based experience highlights the St. Louis Kaplan Feldman Holocaust Museum’s mission to reject hatred, promote understanding, and inspire change. Topics such as bias, stereotyping, hate crimes, and genocides are discussed, and visitors are taught what it means to be an active ally.
This program can be done on it’s own or in conjunction with one of the Permanent Holocaust Exhibition programs.

Additional Information
The Impact Lab program is an interactive, facilitated experience led by a museum educator. Students share perspectives, consider diverse viewpoints, and connect lessons from the Holocaust to the choices individuals face today. Reflection activities throughout the experience allow students to process ideas both collaboratively and independently.
The Impact Lab is comprised of three unique spaces, each designed to facilitate conversations around a different theme. As each room can accommodate up to 20 students, larger groups will be divided into smaller groups and rotate through the experience. The three spaces include:
Inspire Change: Bystander to Active Ally- Explore scenarios that you could encounter in your day-to-day life, and examine actions you can take to move from bystander to active ally.
Reject Hatred: Genocide & Hate Crimes- Hate crimes and genocides happened before and after the Holocaust. Look at other moments in history in which hate turned to violence and discuss big questions surrounding identity, justice, and memory.
Promote Understanding: Spiral of Hate- The Holocaust was not inevitable; many choices and decisions along the way allowed genocide to happen. Through our Spiral of Hate, examine the path hate takes going from ideas to action.
