What is International Holocaust Remembrance Day?

International Holocaust Remembrance Day, created by the United Nations in 2005, marks the anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau by Soviet soldiers in 1945. This international day of remembrance honors the six million Jewish victims and millions of innocent people who suffered during the Holocaust.

International Holocaust Remembrance Day 2025

Join us at the museum for International Holocaust Remembrance Day to learn about topics such as bias, stereotyping, hate crimes, and genocide, and understand the importance of being an active ally in promoting positive change within the community and rejecting hatred.

“The St. Louis Kaplan Feldman Holocaust Museum is designated in honor of the survivors and the memory of the victims,” said Don Hannon, Acting Executive Director of the Museum. “We work to honor that promise every day of the year – International Holocaust Remembrance Day is simply another important example of our efforts to teach the history and lessons of the Holocaust to reject hatred, promote understanding, and inspire change.”
