Elizabeth Meissner was born in the village of Nongelete, Hungary in 1916, which was near the town of Debrecen. Elizabeth was taken to Auschwitz-Birkenau and then to Stutthof Concentration camp. During a death march in March 1945, Elizabeth Meissner was liberated by the Russians.
