Yom HaShoah Annual Event

What is Yom HaShoah?
Yom HaShoah honors the six million Jewish victims of the Holocaust and the resilience of survivors. Officially known as Yom HaShoah Ve-Hagevurah—meaning “Day of (Remembrance of) the Holocaust and the Heroism”—it falls on the 27th of Nisan in the Hebrew calendar, typically in April or May.
Established by the Israeli government in 1951, Yom HaShoah is observed worldwide with memorial ceremonies, candle-lighting, moments of silence, and educational programs. At the St. Louis Kaplan Feldman Holocaust Museum, we commemorate Yom HaShoah with community events and programs emphasizing remembrance, education, and the ongoing fight against antisemitism. This commemoration is one source of renewed commitment to building a more just world.
