The Holocaust Museum and Learning Center (HMLC) is seeking entries for the 2015 Art and Writing Contest. The contest asks creative middle and high school students to express the difficult and inspiring lessons of the Holocaust. This is the 12th year that the annual competition has been held in dedication to the memory of the 1.5 million children who perished in the Holocaust and in honor of the grandchildren of sponsors Dr. Ira (of blessed memory) and Judith Gall. Winning entries in each division will be awarded cash prizes and will be displayed at the museum and in other locations in the area.

For the writing contest, students may write a poem, newspaper article, story, play/dialogue or essay. Entries will be judged on content, originality and quality of expression and accuracy. For the art contest, students may create a sculpture, drawing, photograph, painting, poster, collage or 5-minute video or DVD. The work will be judged on creativity, excellence and content. This year, as the Holocaust Museum and Learning Center commemorates its 20th Anniversary, the winners of the Art and Writing contest will have an ever greater impact on the HMLC and its visitors.

Official rules, submission details and further information are listed on the entry form, which can be picked up at the HMLC at 12 Millstone Campus Drive or can be downloaded at HMLC.org/ArtandWriting. Entries must be received by the HMLC no later than 3 pm on April 17, 2015 (postmarks not accepted). For additional information on the contest, contact Dan Reich at DReich@JFedSTL.org or 314-442-3714.
