The next film in the Sandra and Mendel Rosenberg Sunday Afternoon Film Series will be Verbotene Klang: Komponisten im Exil (Forbidden Sounds: Composers in Exile), screening at 1 pm on June 28, 2015, in the Holocaust Museum’s theatre at Jewish Federation of St. Louis’ Kopolow Building, 12 Millstone Campus Drive. This remarkable documentary traces the effect of Nazism on composers of that era, illustrated by archival footage, interviews and musical interludes. Forbidden Sounds, produced in 1991, will screen in German with English subtitles, with a running time of 72 minutes.

Introductory remarks and a post screening discussion will be facilitated by Dr. Robert Hutcheson, who has a doctoral degree in music from Washington University. Dr. Hutcheson also serves as an educator and docent for the HMLC.
