We joyously honor the memory of Sholem Aleichem on Sunday, May 15, 2016 at 1:00 pm in the Holocaust Museum and Learning Center theater in the Jewish Federation of St. Louis Kopolow building, 12 Millstone Campus Drive, 63146.  Sholem Aleichem was the pen name of Solomon Rabinovich, born in 1859, who began writing Yiddish stories in 1883 and published extensively in Yiddish newspapers. Rabinovich gave life to Tevye the Dairyman and scores of other characters from the mythic world of the Jewish shtetl.

The program will include klezmer music that was first recorded during Sholem Aleichem’s lifetime, Yiddish songs he helped propagate, and, of course, several stories. The celebration will feature Paul Wexler (clarinet), Will Soll (mandolin and guitar), Iggie Tiemann (bass) and Ed Reggi (storyteller).
