The Eldorado Club and the Nazi Assault on Queer Life

October 16, 2025 | 6 pm

About this Program:

Before the rise of the Nazis, Berlin’s Eldorado Club thrived as a vibrant center of LGBTQ+ culture and nightlife. Join the Museum to explore how the Eldorado symbolized both the freedom and fragility of queer life in Weimar Germany, and how its closure marked the beginning of Nazi persecution of LGBTQ+ people. Through history and testimony, we will examine the dangers of intolerance and the importance of remembering marginalized victims of the Holocaust.

This program will be presented by Helen Turner, the Director of Education, and will feature a 30 minute talk followed by Q&A.
