This is the St. Louis premiere of the 90-minute documentary which is free and open to the public.

Sunday, Dec. 30, 1 pm in the Jewish Federation Kopolow Building’s Holocaust Museum Theatre.

The next film in the Sandra and Mendel Rosenberg Sunday Afternoon Film Series will be the St. Louis premiere of, Im Himmel Unter Der Erde (In Heaven, Underground, the Weissensee Jewish Cemetery), screening at 1 p.m. on December 30, 2012, in the Holocaust Museum’s theatre in the Jewish Federation Kopolow Building, #12 Millstone Campus Drive.

This award-winning documentary chronicles the 131 year history of the Weissensee Jewish Cemetery in Berlin, the largest active Jewish burial ground in Europe. Miraculously untouched by the Nazi regime, Weissensee is the final resting place for over 115 thousand Jews. This 2011 film has a running time of 90 minutes. It is in German with English subtitles.

Introductory remarks and a post screening discussion will be facilitated by Daniel A. Reich, Curator and Director of Education, Holocaust Museum and Learning Center, in Memory of Gloria M. Goldstein. Films in this Sunday series are free and open to the public.
